The ELCA has 17,460 rostered ministers (deacons and pastors). The 250 women of color serving as rostered ministers comprise only a tiny fraction of that number—1.4 percent, or 1 out of every 70 leaders. That makes their stories and experiences worth listening to as our denomination strives to become more diverse. What can we learn from them? How can we work to become more diverse?
