Constanze Hagmaier was reelected May 30 to serve a six-year term as bishop of the South Dakota Synod of the ELCA. The election took place during the synod assembly, May 30-31 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The bishop was reelected on the first ballot, with 312 votes out of 376 legal votes cast.
Hagmaier was elected bishop of the synod in 2019. She had previously served as administrative pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison, S.D. (2009-2019); pastor of Salem Lutheran Church in Parkston, S.D. (2004-2009); and pastor of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Waubay, S.D. (2001-2004).
