Regina Hassanally was reelected May 30 to serve a six-year term as bishop of the Southeastern Minnesota Synod of the ELCA. The election took place during the synod assembly, May 30-31 at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center in Mankato, Minn.
The bishop was reelected on the first ballot, with 274 votes, representing 91.9% of the legal ballots cast.
Hassanally was elected the synod’s bishop in 2019. Previously she served as pastor of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Goodhue, Minn. (2012-2019), and as director of shared ministry at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Northfield, Minn. (2008-2012).
