The ELCA Advocacy podcast Here I Pod has released a six-part series on the ELCA social statement “Faith and Civic Life: Seeking the Well-being of All,” adopted by the 2025 churchwide assembly.
As ELCA members participate in God’s work in the world, social statements provide broad frameworks to help individuals and communities with moral formation, discernment and thoughtful engagement with current social issues. These statements also set policy for the ELCA and guide its advocacy and work as a publicly engaged church. They result from an extensive process of participation and deliberation and are adopted by a two-thirds vote of an ELCA churchwide assembly.
