Today we are sharing five prompts to inspire you during your personal spiritual time so you can set your intentions for the week ahead. Tag @LivingLutheran on Instagram and/or Facebook as you share your act of kindness for a chance to be featured in our stories and help inspire others to spread God’s love in their communities.
Scripture:
“Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2).
Journal prompt:
Consider a time when someone was kind to you. Write about how that kindness impacted you and how you could offer kindness to someone this week.
Act of kindness:
Here are a few simple, free ways you can spread kindness in your community:
• Donate gently used clothes to a community closet.
• Organize a food drive with your neighborhood.
• Volunteer at a local nonprofit.
• Write encouraging notes to synod workers, pastors, youth leaders or other volunteers in your congregation.
• Write a positive review for a small business in your area.
• Offer to help a friend or family member with household chores.
“Prayer Ventures”:
“‘Nothing helps more powerfully against the devil, the world, the flesh, and all evil thoughts than occupying oneself with God’s Word, having conversations about it, and contemplating it’ (Martin Luther, the Large Catechism). Ask the Spirit to stir our desire to study and reflect on Scripture together with our siblings in Christ to find encouragement, guidance and strength for our lifelong baptismal journeys and doing God’s work in the world” (July 21, 2026).
Prayer from Bread for the Day:
“As you did with your Son Jesus, you invite us to a quiet place to rest and pray. In these moments of calm, soothe us with your heavenly balm, that we might live each day with dignity and kindness” (page 220).
